GUIA is a nonprofit organisation that aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and youths of Latin America. GUIA does this by supporting small scale educational, recreational and employment projects that guide young people from childhood to adulthood.

Childhood creates a base for the rest of your life. Each child is entitled to a secure environment and education while growing up. In cases where the family is not able to provide this, support from outside is needed.

But, when should this support stop?

We have seen that the support often ends too soon. In their late teens youths make important decisions about their careers, family and way of life.

Without support in the crucial transition period between childhood and adulthood many youths fall into a gap. They find it difficult to set and reach their goals, and options they might have had go to waste. Reaching adulthood these young people find themselves falling back into the poverty cycle.

GUIA wants to focus on extending the support young people receive. We will give them the opportunity to use their skills and prove themselves in the workforce. Once they have a stable job they can start building a secure future for themselves and their family.
